Overplay

Overplay was founded as Tempo Soluções em Informática in July of 2000 by students from State University of Campinas – Unicamp. In 2002, the company was accepted by an incubation program at the high-technology pole of Campinas CIATEC, and then started its development and growth.

In the second semester of 2002, the company started planning to join into the game market. Unfortunately, at that moment the investment fund was unavailable, so the strategy was keeping working on software development and then investing in videogames.

In the beginning of 2004, considering itself capable to invest in games, the company created a brand named Délirus Entertainment for its mobile game production. Also, throughout the next two years, Délirus Entertainment invested in research for 3D multiplayer games for PC sponsored by FAPESP (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo), a Brazilian governmental funding institution. This research improved the company team and brought the possibility of starting its productions over other platforms.

In the first semester of 2006, the company’s mobile games department was acquired by Tectoy group, spin-off that originated the studio Tectoy Digital specialized in mobile game porting. At the end of 2006, the company was considered graduated by CIATEC and then created the brand Overplay, now focusing on game development for PCs and consoles.

In 2007, located in a new head quarter, Overplay planned a strategy to act in the world-wide game industry. In 2008, the studio goes deep into its own philosophy, developing funny and creative games. Family-friendly and casual games become the company’s official niche.

In the first semester of 2009, the studio published Winemaker Extraordinaire and Avalon for PC and I wanna be a Popstar for DS, all titles developed in partnership with North-American and European publishers as Merscom, uClick and Tivola. Today, the company is consisted of 28 people such as economists, pedagogists, computing engineers, 2D and 3D artists and musicians.
